Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is considered a necessity for competition as well as self-defense.
95% of all self-defense situations end up on the ground or in a grappling range, yet most martial arts systems completely neglect this range...if you can not defend yourself in this range....you can't defend yourself!!!
BJJ is a complete fighting system
Learn control & subdue an opponent
Defeat a larger, stronger attacker
There is a small catch though, because of the now well documented, proven effectiveness of grappling techniques there seems to be a place to train BJJ (short for Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) and grappling. The problem there however is a lot of times the "instructor" is still a student himself. The "instructor" is attempting to "cash in" on the grappling craze without having put in the hard work to himself to really be qualified to teach yet. I caution anyone out there looking for a BJJ or Grappling or even for a place to train MMA (short for Mixed Martial arts) to check the credentials of their instructor. If he is wearing a blue or purple belt anywhere near the Clayton, Garner, Smithfield, or 4042 area, know this: you have a highly experienced Black Belt right down the road from you, at 97 Anna Place, Suite 101, Clayton NC.
I do not want anyone to invest the time, effort, and money into training at one of these vastly inferior locations only to realize they will "catch up" to the skills and knowledge of their instructor in a short time, and be unable to progress. Go to the place you can realize your Maximum potential, do not settle for Karate Teachers posing as BJJ instructors.
